The Tree of Life of Khamid Savkuyev

Decree on conferring the title of honor on the master was signed by the President of KBR Arsen Kanokov

The certificate of «People’s Artist of KBR» was presented to Khamid Savkuyev by Minister of Culture of the republic Ruslan Firov at the opening of his personal exhibition «The Tree of Life». The exhibition took place in the staterooms of the Research Museum of Russian Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. Part of works was devoted to Adyghe themes and subjects of Nart sagas.
Khamid Savkuyev was born in Kazakhstan, in the city of Jambyl, in the family of displaced from Kabardino-Balkaria, who years later returned to their homeland, to Nalchik. He graduated from the art-graphic faculty of the Pedagogical Institute in Stavropol, and then - The St. Petersburg Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1995 received a diploma of the Russian Academy of Arts for the sketch painting «The Bride», then realized by him at the Institute of Ethnography in Nalchik. In 1996, he made a decorative panel «Going out of plowmen» for the Government House of Kabardino-Balkaria. Two of his paintings - «Christening of Kievans» and «Carrying the relics of Saint Nicholas» decorate the Nicholas side chapel of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The works of Khamid Savkuyev were exhibited in the art gallery «Artes» in Barcelona. His painting «St. George» was purchased for the presidential palace in Catalonia. The main temple of the city of Kursk is decorated with the Savkuyev’s painting «Walking on Waters».
Khamid is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts. His exhibitions were held in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Spain, Holland, USA and China. Currently, he teaches at the Ilya Repin Institute, St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.
